As published by Ynet, the Jerusalem District Planning and Construction Committee finally approved the “Midtown Jerusalem” plan in the center of the city, which includes four mixed-use towers of 40 floors, which will combine 1,000 housing units, a luxury hotel, commercial and employment areas, and areas for public needs. As part of the plan, located at the intersection of the Jerusalem-Agripas streets, instructions were set for the complete preservation of the historical building of the Shaari Tzedek Hospital and its conversion into a luxury hotel.
The project will be built on land in the old Shaarei Zedek complex, purchased by the Israel Canada company, controlled by Barak Rosen and Asaf Touchmair, in 2020 for NIS 538 million after it won a tender from the Israel Land Authority. As part of the tender, the company received lease rights in the complex for 98 years, with an option to extend it for another 98 years, and the plan was to build a center similar to the “Midtown Tel Aviv” complex. The “Midtown Tel Aviv” complex includes two 50-story mixed-use towers with approximately 300 residential apartments, a hotel, and offices. A small part of the apartments is intended for supervised rent.
